As I delved into this, I realised that many of the unforeseen expenses people shared with me were not necessarily unforeseeable. They just didn’t come to mind in our planning.
One common cause is that our brains are not great at looking over the horizon. We’re very here and now.
And most free budgeting spreadsheets are incomplete, in that they don’t prompt us to look over the horizon beyond a few months or at most a year.
