Recently a friend bravely shared his story of being caught short on money for an essential item and asked what I would advise.
It sucks! And he’s not alone – it happens to us all.
The moments we are caught out or caught short of money are learning opportunities.
These moments are reflections of something that may need tweaking in our money management system.
Could it be reflecting:
- That we are not setting aside enough savings for predictable expenses?
- That we haven’t included enough of a buffer when saving for predictable expenses?
- That perhaps our lifestyle is unaffordable? (gulp)
Self-reflection is not easy and it takes courage.
In the courage, there’s a growth opportunity to tweak our system to lower our stress and improve our financial wellbeing.
Recall a recent time you were caught out – what could you tweak in your money system to reduce the chance it’ll happen again, or to reduce the impact?
